2009 BMW Alpina B7 Bi Turbo

With the new BMW ALPINA B7 Bi-Turbo, ALPINA presents its fourth generation of automobiles based on the BMW 7 Series. Prominent predecessors include the BMW ALPINA B12 6.0 and B7, which raised the bar in the high-performance luxury saloon segment. Newly interpreted and in every way state-of-the-art, the B7 Bi-Turbo unites exclusiveness, athleticism and comfort in perfect harmony. Yielding exquisite levels of torque and power from the charged 4.4 litre V8, and in conjunction with the electronically-adjustable suspension with active roll stabilisation, the B7 Bi-Turbo promises to offer a spectrum of driving experiences so varied as to be unheard of in this class of automobiles. The evolution of the traditional 20-spoke 21” ALPINA CLASSIC wheels underline the fresh design language found throughout the B7 Bi-Turbo and impart it a distinctive appearance and powerful stance.

The fully-aluminium, 4395 cm3 V8 aggregate yields 507 peak horsepower (373 kW) at a moderate 5500rpm, with a maximum torque of 700 Nm available between 3000-4750rpm.
Two especially for the ALPINA powerplant constructed turbochargers with generously-dimensioned turbine vanes are responsible for the forced induction. Thorough exploitation of the engine's potential was achieved by means of optimising the indirect intercooler (air-water/water-air) with its short intake paths and flow-optimised intercooler tracts. High-performance pistons are at work in the cylinders, carefully developed to harmonise with a compression of 9.2:1 and a maximum turbo boost of 1.0 bar. The result is a formidable specific output of 115hp (85kW) per litre, with a maximum average compression of 20.1 bar, a benchmark even amongst established sportscars.

Truly Amazing Car! I love it! How about you readers?

2009 BMW Alpina B3 Bi Turbo

For over thirty years now, ALPINA have been creating exclusive automobiles based on the BMW 3 Series, automobiles that aim to fulfill only the very highest demands. In the beginning of this continuing success story spanning over 6,000 units was the legendary 1978 BMW ALPINA B6 2.8 - revolutionary in its day due to its six cylinder engine.

This success story is continued in a most prominent fashion by the BMW ALPINA B3 Bi-Turbo. Enjoyment, great attention to detail and a unique driving experience come together, creating a synergy of elegance and driving dynamics.

The omnipresence of Its sporty character means the engine revs freely, accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack, to a maximum 7000rpm, offering up 360hp (265kW) along the way between 5500rpm - 6000rpm.
The use of extremely durable MAHLE pistons allows for a maximum boost of 1.1 bar with 9.4:1 compression. The result, a peak specific output of 121hp (89kW) per litre and a maximum average pressure of 21 bar. The B3 Bi-Turbo line up presents itself in an hitherto unparalleled diversity, comprising a Saloon, Touring, Coupé and Convertible.

See for yourself!

2009 BMW Alpina B5 S

The BMW Alpina B5 S powertrain is based on a 4.4 l V8. A quick glance at the power / torque curve suggest what one can expect from the complex technology that fills the BMW ALPINA B5 S’ engine bay. At a humble 2500rpm the engine already delivers 200hp. At 5500rpm a peak of 530hp (390kW) is available. This provides a very broad power band across which the B5 S offers superior performance, its 725Nm of torque providing turbine like acceleration!

ALPINA have worked closely with ZF to develop a new sports automatic transmission with ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC. This perfectly augments the car’s character, letting you select gears manually or leaving the automatic to change gears almost imperceptibly. In manual-mode, shift durations and reacton times have been reduced by nearly half over previous generations, allowing for a dynamic, involved and sporty driving experience akin to a double clutch gearbox. Especially sporty drivers will benefit from an automatic matching of rpm’s on downshifts, eliminating engine drag and reducing load alteration effects.

4.4L V8? WOW. 530hp? WOW That really sounds like a muscle car engine, but is indeed in a BMW, as I have stated before, a big passion of mine. The Germans know how to make cars, and I am truly convinced that this car is going to be amazing. I hope i have the chance to see it with my eyes, or even try it. That is the next of the new B series of the famous made.

What do you think? You should all appreciate the BMW.

2009 BMW Alpina B6 S

Few sportscars can emulate the ease which the supercharged V8 BMW ALPINA B6 S fuses seemingly incompatible qualities together. Enormous speed and power blend with luxury, comfort and relaxed control, creating a single harmonious entity.

The B6 S unifies the elegant appearance of a Gran Tourismo with the performance of a super-sportscar. Numbers are not enough to communicate the Coupé's acceleration accurately – in 4.5 seconds from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) from a standing start. The 300km/h (186mph) mark passes by in less than 60 seconds, an experience that has to be experienced to be believed.

To satisfy our most sport-oriented customers, the BMW ALPINA B6 S comes with a torque-sensing limited-slip differential as standard, developed in cooperation with Drexler Motorsport. The locking effect amounts to 30% under acceleration and 20% on a trailing throttle. This concept improves directional stability and vehicle control under weight transfer during cornering, especially during load changes.

Developed in co-operation with SACHS Race Engineering, the electronically-controlled adjustable damping, called EDC, comes as standard on the B6 S. The dampers automatically increase their resistance in a fraction of a second to help ensure safe driving. The more sport-oriented driver can also manually select firmer damper settings in advance, using the EDC button located on the centre console.

I am a BMW Lover. Everytime I see BMW, new or old (does not matter) I stare at it. I just have passion for BMWs. Seeing that car, it looks amazing and I wish I had one in my garage. Awhile ago, when I visited the Chicago Auto Show (back in February). You can check the site of the auto show http://www.chicagoautoshow.com I had the opportunity to sit in 2009 BMW M6 Alpina. Since then I fall in love with the Alpina tuning company. http://www.alpina-automobiles.com - Here you can find out more about the tuning company. It is truly amazing.

So what do you think? Doesnt it look good? What do you think, all of you BMW lovers?

TECHART Refines Porsche Cayenne Diesel

TECHART launches performance and styling upgrades for Porsche Cayenne Diesel

combining low CO 2 and low running costs with style and high performance, for new and existing vehicles

A range of tuning and styling options for the Cayenne Diesel has been introduced by TECHART, the German Porsche tuning company renowned for creating some of the world's finest bespoke vehicles. Upgrades covering everything from sports-orientated engine and chassis conversions to luxury interiors and aerodynamic styling are available in the UK from Porsche specialist Tech9 Motorsport.

“With the top three podium positions at Le Mans won by diesel powered racecars this year, it is proven beyond any doubt that this is a superb fuel for very high performance motoring,” says Phil Hindley, managing director of Tech9 Motorsport. “Add in their low CO 2 output, which translates to low benefit-in-kind taxation, their excellent fuel economy and high residual values, and we can see why there is so much excitement about this car.”

TECHART's upgrade range has been developed to provide subtle enhancements to power, handling and styling, complemented by a range of interior trim options that can take the vehicle from comfortable to opulent. Every component is designed and manufactured to the same high standards as the original equipment parts and integration with the vehicle is rigorously engineered to ensure that safety and durability remain at the very high levels originally specified by Porsche. Specially developed for the Cayenne Diesel, Aerokit 1 includes a new front panel with a deeper front spoiler, elegantly integrated driving and fog lamps and additional cooling vents to help keep temperatures under control during consistently hard driving. Deeper sills help manage under body airflow and at the rear a new apron with integrated diffuser completes the underbody aerodynamics. Airflow behind the vehicle is managed by a low drag roof spoiler. All exterior styling components are manufactured from polyurethane to ensure long term durability and to provide a smooth, high quality appearance. For cars fitted with air suspension, Aerokit 1 also includes a unique TECHART suspension control module that lowers the vehicle, reducing roll and further improving aerodynamics. When the vehicle is stationary, the control system lowers the vehicle a little more to improve access and to further improve the low, aerodynamic look.

So what do you guys think? Does it worth the modifications? I think so!

The New 2009 Peugeot 407

A new 2009 Peugeot 407 with revised specification that goes on sale in September introduces a number of exterior and interior enhancements, a new RT5 satellite navigation system, a new ‘SR' model to the range and a new HDi 140 diesel engine producing 150 g/km of (CO 2 ).

Since launch, the 407 range, which includes Saloon, SW and Coupé body styles, has been recognised in its segment for its stylish design, advanced technology features and high levels of road holding. All models are elegant, distinctive and dynamic, in a segment based around traditional yet conventional saloon and estates, designed with style and practicality in mind. One of the attractions of the 407 is its feline appearance, which initiated the latest ‘house style' of Peugeot cars that has inspired the appearance of ranges that followed.

New grille treatment and body-coloured rubbing strips
Characterised by a more distinctive design at the front, the new air intake fits perfectly both in terms of technical performance and its bold design. The rear bumper now incorporates a diffuser style number-plate surround.

The interior, where the driver environment is so important, has been enhanced. SE and GT models now feature the new ‘piano black' finish which is applied to the door handle and air vent surrounds and to the centre console.

The dynamic characteristics of 407, including exceptional road holding, are the result of a number of technical solutions and Peugeot's expertise in fine tuning of the suspension that benefits both ride and handling. In anticipation of the changing expectations of its customers, Peugeot has strengthened the appeal of the 407's engaging dynamic performance even further.

Subtle visual improvements update a design that is just as dynamic and bold as before but now offers more in terms of elegance, robustness and high quality, both externally and internally. New enhanced comfort equipment increases the appeal of the different versions by offering even greater well-being to its occupants, in particular on-board temperature control and new telematics systems.

New equipment like front parking assistance enhances the car's world-wide reputation for ease of driving and dynamic performance. It is available with a choice of four- and six-cylinder engines featuring cutting edge technology, particularly on the HDi Diesel versions, the most popular engine in the 407.

These include an updated 2.0-litre HDi 140 engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox which develops a power of 140 bhp - an increase of 4 bhp over the HDi 136. It also benefits from low fuel consumption of 49.5 mpg and CO 2 emissions reduced to 150 g/km. This engine, which complies with anticipated future Euro 5 emission standards, testifies Peugeot's ongoing commitment to achieve the best possible environmental performance.

For example, an additive-enhanced diesel particulate filter system (FAP) is standard on all HDi Diesel powered 407s, following the introduction of the 1.6-litre HDi 110FAP engine. That is particularly well suited as a fleet vehicle due to its low fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions (only 140 g/km for the Saloon). All Peugeot HDi engines, back to 1998, can operate on B30 (Biodiesel at a 30% mixture). A new 2.0-litre ‘Bioflex' engine operating on E85 fuel will also be available from November, maximising the environmental benefit.

For me, being a European I like it. But I don't see future for Peugeot to be selled on the market in America or Asia. Peugeot is a European made. Are you on the same mind? I think the new shape and engine specifications are working quite well for it...

What do you think???

Vauxhall Insignia VXR

VAUXHALL INSIGNIA VXR HITS MARKET AFTER 10,000KM SIGN OFF AT ‘RING
  • Extensive durability sign-off at Germany 's notorious Nurbürgring
  • Turbocharged V6 engine with race-bred design features
  • Unique-to-range chassis features for optimised grip and traction
  • Priced from £30,995.00

Luton – Packing 325 horsepower, a sophisticated four-wheel-drive chassis and a sub-six second 0-60 time, Vauxhall's new Insignia VXR is set to take the mid-size performance saloon market by storm when it appears in UK showrooms this September, priced from £30,995.00.

Based on the successful 2009 European Car of the Year, and available in hatch, saloon and Sports Tourer body styles, the high-performance Insignia will be Vauxhall's first VXR model to adopt 4X4 technology, using a bespoke chassis developed through an extensive test programme at the gruelling Nürburgring circuit in Germany .

Highlights are a ‘HiPerStrut' front suspension system, Adaptive 4X4 with electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD) and a 10 millimetre reduction in ride height over the Insignia SRi.

The HiPerStrut system is unique to the VXR and serves two primary functions: firstly, to reduce torque-steer, but also to maintain negative camber during cornering, thereby improving ultimate grip levels in wet or dry conditions.

Complementing these features are standard 19-inch alloy wheels (20-inch lightweight forged alloys are a cost option) with bespoke tyres, revised bushing and damper settings on both axles, and Brembo brakes with colour-keyed callipers and vented/cross-drilled discs.

‘The Insignia VXR is not just about absolute power, but a combination of usable performance and chassis sophistication which is the match of premium rivals, such as Audi's new S4,' said Andy Gilson, Vauxhall's Marketing Director. ‘In essence, it's an ultra-fast performance saloon that will appeal to buyers who appreciate subtle yet distinctive styling, but who need to know that there's real substance below the car's metal.'

And substance the VXR has a-plenty. At the heart of the Insignia VXR is Vauxhall's advanced 2.8-litre V6 Turbo ECOTEC engine, with its micro-alloy forged steel crank, classic 60-degree cylinder angle and die-cast alloy oil sump – all features found in many a race engine. Producing 325PS, the engine uses a single, twin-scroll turbocharger and variable valve control for quick throttle response, and accelerates from 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds, achieving an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

With a design inspired by the Vauxhall/Opel GTC concept car, many of the Insignia VXR's styling cues will be familiar to those who saw this groundbreaking concept at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. A deeper bumper, incorporating bold, twin mesh grilles either side of the main grille, dominates the front of the car, and at the rear, all models gain a rear spoiler, while all VXRs have a bespoke bumper moulding incorporating dual matt chrome exhausts.

This sporting theme continues in the Insignia VXR's cabin. Recaro front seats, a new VXR steering wheel, VXR gearknob and unique mouldings are standard on all cars, along with different instrument graphics, VXR sill plates and a black headlining.

Combining all the technical highlights of the VXR hatch and saloon with best in class-matching luggage capacity (rear seats up), the VXR Sports Tourer version is not only the fastest estate car Vauxhall has ever produced, but also the first to incorporate Adaptive 4X4 and an electronic limited slip differential.

A 540-litre load space behind its 60:40 split rear seats increases to 1530-litres with the seats down. And accessing this area has never been easier, thanks to the VXR Sports Tourer's standard electronic tailgate, which can be operated off the driver's key fob, or via a rotary knob on the inside of the driver's door.

All VXRs are available with a colour palette comprising Arden Blue, Power Red, Carbon Flash Black, Silver Lake , Olympic White and Technical Grey.

Sitting at the top of the Insignia range, the new models will be an important addition to Vauxhall's performance-bred VXR family, which already includes the Corsa VXR, Astra VXR and 562 horsepower VXR8 Bathurst S.

Well, that's a car that catches your eye... Maybe it is not one of the famous brands, but it sure looks to me that it has future. Vauxhall offers a great opportunity for a good price.

Still the brand is not that famous, and that is leading to not making big sales. The only way I can see that, Vauxhall brand has is that they continue with their dedication and use it to increase their sales and wait to get famous!

I can only say: Good Luck Guys!!!

Aston Martin DBS Volante

Aston Martin DBS Volante makes its debut at the 2009 Geneva Auto Salon. Completing the Aston Martin DBS line-up, the new Volante will afford customers the combination of the DBS's already-established benchmark sports car characteristics with all the thrills of open-air motoring.

Broadening the DBS's character, the Aston Martin DBS Volante will appeal to drivers who wish to combine the excitement of driving a finely-tuned sports car with the invigorating feeling of being open to the elements. This juxtaposition of ultimate performance and openness stirs the senses on any drive whether an exhilarating jaunt on favoured roads or cruising on lengthy journeys. 'Volante', meaning 'moving with light rapidity', perfectly defines the performance potential and the dynamic characteristics of the Aston Martin DBS Volante.

Featuring a motorised retractable fabric roof, the DBS's beautiful profile is preserved whether up or down. When the roof is closed, it provides a warm comfortable ambience and when open, it neatly disappears behind the new tonneau cover at the touch of a button.

Aston Martin's Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez said: "The Aston Martin DBS Volante delivers the utmost relaxed driving experience with the hood up or down. It combines engineering excellence with design perfection.

"The Aston Martin DBS Volante offers a subtle mix of power and performance. Adding to this, the fine craftsmanship - it is an unparalleled ownership and driving experience."

Conceived as a Volante from the outset, Aston Martin engineers opted for a fabric hood to closely follow the silhouette of the DBS coupe and due to its lightweight properties, minimise overall weight gain. Fully retractable in only 14 seconds and at up to speeds of 30 mph (48 km/h), the roof will automatically stow under the newly sculpted tonneau, maintaining the Aston Martin DBS Volante's perfect form - hood up or down.

Power is provided by Aston Martin's hand-built all alloy 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 bhp (380 kW / 517 PS), and 570 Nm (420 lb ft) of torque with a top speed of 191 mph (307 km/h) and 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 4.3 seconds. The nature of the V12, and in particular the torque available at all engine speeds, serves to provide effortless driving in all situations.

Aston Martin's 16th convertible in 95 years, the Aston Martin DBS Volante draws on the marque's extensive experience in designing iconic 'Volantes' and is a 2+2 featuring two occasional rear seats, ideal for young people or extra luggage. In standard specification, the DBS has a rear-mounted six-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic six-speed 'Touchtronic' option is also available. As with the coupe, the Volante is offered with carbon ceramic brakes as standard providing exceptional stopping power. Benefitting from materials derived from the motorsport and aerospace industries, the bonnet, front wings and boot lid are made from carbon fibre all helping to reduce weight.

The Aston Martin DBS Volante also comes with Bang & Olufsen's renowned 'BeoSound DBS' in-car entertainment system, featuring 13 speakers as standard equipment. The BeoSound DBS has been expertly tuned by Bang & Olufsen's Tonmeisters and Aston Martin's acoustic engineers specifically for the Volante resulting in a system that senses when the roof has been retracted and adjusts the sound stage to compensate for extra wind noise, providing an unrivalled automotive audio experience.

The need for high-performance stability, handling ability and low kerb weight defined the DBS's form and construction. The Aston Martin DBS Volante is powered by the same 6.0-litre V12 engine at the heart of the DBS which was launched in 2007. Producing 510 bhp (517 PS / 380 kW), peak power is delivered at 6500 rpm and the 570 NM (420 lb ft) of torque is delivered at 5750 rpm. Tractable at any time, the DBS possesses a 'flat' torque curve providing 85% of the torque from 1500 rpm.

The 3.71:1 (manual) and 3.46:1 (Touchtronic) final drive ratio assures that all the Aston Martin DBS Violante's power is use able, while also enhancing in-gear acceleration.

That's a car!!! Right there!!! Every car enthusiast is dreaming for one. The Aston Martin series are well-known and expensive. Seeing a person driving one of those, clearly indicates that he well acquainted with the necessities to have one.

For me that's is a car which belongs in my garage, and hopefully I hope I will get it someday! Eh? :)

I don't know about you guys, but i am really sceptic about hybrids. For me if its not a gasoline or diesel engine it is not a car. It is true that the world goes forward and we need new sources needed so engines can operate.

As we well know the Earth "black liquid gold" is not that much as before. That made many scientist to search for different ways - one of which is the hybrid. Even thought everything I am still skeptic towards it. I would like to know you thoughts! Feel free to comment!!!
Thank you guys.
